Accessibility Statement

The partners operating www.discoverkerry.com, Kerry Tourism Industry Federation, KerrySciTech and Kerry County Council are committed to making its websites and mobile applications accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020.

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We have designed the website to give you the options to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

How Do We Do This?

  • ReachDeck - Accessibility Tool: Reachdeck adds speech, reading and translation support tools to online content. It works on all major browsers and platforms, including mobile phones and tablets. All features are accessed by clicking on the ‘speak’ option on the right hand side of the screen, which triggers an easy-to-use floating toolbar on all web pages. Note: The translation service uses a version of Google Translate which relies on translations already available online – for this reason it may not always be 100% accurate.

  • Text Size: You can change the text size on this application to make it either larger or smaller via your browser settings. Some browsers will allow you to magnify the whole page.

Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non Compliance with Accessibility Regulations

  • Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

  • We are in the process of adding text alternatives for all images. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

  • We are continuing to work with accessibility experts to ensure that our website is as accessible possible to our users.

Consistent page headings and titles
A consistent heading structure has been used so that page information is compatible with access technology.
