The largest village west of Dingle, and thus probably Irelands closest village to America, Ballyferriter is situated in a beatuiful valley surrounded by windswept hills. Located in what is known as the richest square mile of Christan Heritage in Ireland, Ballyferriter is steeped in history and antiquity. The rugged landscape is littered with ancient monuments from the Gallurus Oratory and Stone crosses to ring forts and Ferriters castle. The jagged peaks of the surrounding hills are offest by Smerwick harbour and the beautiful white sands of Beal Ban beach.
Go to the other side of the head and magnificient views of the Blasket Islands await. Being located mid way on the Slea head drive makes Ballyferriter the ideal place to spend some time and discover the range of activities available locally, from walking the Dingle way, to deep sea fishing and golf, or just relax and soak up the tranquil atmosphere.
